i have been emailed quite a bit how I feel away from home, my doctors, my friends. No offense but that’s what I needed. If I heard the term PSA Once more I think I would scream! Patients are no different than doctors in that break time is required. After 1 year shortly and one ruined and hopefully repairable friendship that was all my fault, I learn the hard way. Pictures are worth 1000 words, I will prove it. as…..
Love you guys to the moon and back but I’m celebrating my 40th with my sweetie…my gift for whooping cancer’s rear end, ( 9 month PSA 0.0) for stage 4 disease, and my wife being my main support system! So no words of wisdom. No Blips of knowledge except one. Enjoy your life, never hate, don’t go to bed mad or hold grudges. Life is way to short! Be back in 2-3 weeks, I’m in no hurry. My kids are home…..
Just a BLIP on a radar screen in Atlanta control, amplified by a transponder. Transponders take radar signals, amplify and return them to Earth with additional data ( flight number, heading, speed or special codes for emergencies). Chemotherapeutic agents are like transponders; they take the bodies signal, change and amplify the immune response. Chemotherapy, if you have been reading, is not without side effects. By far, the most miserable time in my life were those 18 weeks of Taxotere. Fatigue,…..
It’s been a long 12 months. Cancer. Research. Becoming an MD as well as a patient again. Chemotherapy, something I will never forget, it’s intensity and brutal force. I found out Thursday, despite stage 4 my work paid off and I may be cured, definitely in remission. My 0, 3, 6 9 month PSA’s are undetectable. Happy Easter, as God and my belief system played a large role. Was all news good? No. I lost friends. People that don’t want…..
I believe I noted I was seeing my most trusted doc and friend;my Urologist. We went over all the data, path report again and the news was great. He feels the 5 and 10 year prognosis is excellent 95 and 90%. Tom, you will die, but not from prostate cancer. Talk about a left handed compliment. Serial PSA’s and 6 more months of lupron then, just sit back and watch. So, I have been asked, what do I do, retired…..
I don’t know how many people have read Dr. Spencer’s book ‘Who Moved my Cheese. It’s a book about change. In summary there are two mice in a maze; one day somebody move the cheese their food supply. One mouse refused to adapt and continued to follow the same path day after day until he dies of starvation . The other mouse adapts and finds a new food supply of cheese lives in flourishes. That mouse adapted, that mouse changed……
I have received many likes and accolades about my book Self Examination. The most common complaint comes from my English major friends that there are errors, spelling , syntax of the English language. Yes, there are, and I plead guilty. Why did I do such a heinous act! When I wrote the book, I was receiving chemotherapy (Taxotere). If you know a friend who has had chemo, ask them about a medical term called Chemobrain. Chemobrain is defined as chemotherapy-related…..
Well, it’s that time to check the oil, transmission fluid, and PSA level. This will be 9 months out radical prostatectomy, 3 months out chemotherapy and still on Lupron. I’m down to 195 lbs, just 5 more lbs to go on my diet and exercise program (it worked. I see my Urologist next week, I trust him with my life and consider him a friend. He discovered my cancer, ignored the PSA of 3.0 and found high grade ( Gleason…..
In the 70’s a group by the name of JigSaw had a one hit wonder ‘Skyhigh’. Good song, when I was a Dee Jay, it was one of the most requested songs when I was on-air. I heard the song yesterday on radio, so one wonders in retrospect, was this a warning or a coincidence! Temperature is a defense mechanism used by the body to kill bacteria. We are warm blooded, meaning we have a metabolic means to keep or…..
